Portland, Ore. opened its new light rail Orange Line last weekend (Sept. 12), linking the central transit mall with suburban Milwaukie, Ore. Orange Line trains will combine with the Yellow line to provide through North-South service: Yellow north of the center, Orange south of the center. A unique feature of the route is the new Tilikum Crossing bridge over the Willamette River, with access limited to light rail, buses, bicycles and pedestrians; no cars allowed.
